Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why is there no Physical/Special Split?

  • There are three main reasons:
  • This is a binary hack, so adding the split is far more complex than in decomps.
  • The goal was to keep the authentic Generation 3 Ruby/Sapphire feel. Most modern hacks use the split, so this makes the game stand out.
  • Adding the split would also require adding many new moves to balance types, which isn’t possible in a binary hack. Instead, all learnsets were updated so physical-oriented Pokémon learn more physical moves and special-oriented Pokémon learn more special moves. The game is balanced around this system, so it still feels fair.

Is there a hard level cap?

  • No. Since this is a binary hack, hard caps couldn’t be implemented. More importantly, the game isn’t tuned to be difficult enough to require one. The design balances around scaling trainers, so you won’t feel forced to grind. Documentation is available for trainer levels, but you can also play blind and enjoy the experience.

Why no infinite Rare Candies or Repels?

  • Again, because of binary limitations, infinite-use key items aren’t possible. To work around this, Rare Candies and Repels are sold in every Poké Mart for just 1 PokéDollar. You can also get infinite Rare Candies by talking to the GameCube in the player’s home.

KNOWN ISSUES That won’t be fixed!

  • May/Brendan sprite display as red in the Region Map
  • May sprite displays as red in the Introscene/Outro
  • Some Shinies got side-effect palette changes, such as sneasel (Sneasler is fixed), slowking, sandslas. These remained unchanged because I decided they looked cool and so I kept them.
